We are surrounded by both the beautiful Ruby Country - the land between the moors and Tarka Country home to Henry Williamson's Tarka the Otter where there is a wealth of stunning scenery and idyllic walks. Also, very close is the highly acclaimed Cookworthy Forest a rural resource centre which not only offers excellent forest trails to explore but training events and networking days. The Dragon Archery Centre offers archery for all capabilities and ages from 8+.
The extremely popular North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festivals in early May and October give the opportunity to explore our beautiful countryside and then come 'home' to us for the welcome of a comfortable bed and starting your days with a hearty breakfast.
Walkers and cyclists can enjoy breathtaking views following the scenic coastal routes, or delight in the well known Tarka Trail and North Tamar Walkway routes. (O.S. maps available). The wild but beautiful Dartmoor and Exmoor combined with the famous and quaint villages such as Clovelly, Hartland and Tintagel make this area one of the most popular English locations.
Lizzie's Larder offers own home grown farm produce but also allows visitors to feed lambs and later in the year there will be a farm safari.
There are golf courses at Holsworthy and Bude which are with in easy driving distance.
The wide and sandy beaches, such as Westward Ho!, Bude and Widemouth Bay are ideal for bathing and surfing. The traditional market towns of Holsworthy and Hatherleigh with their weekly livestock and street markets are only 10 minutes drive away.
Holsworthy has an indoor sports centre and swimming pool. Historical Torrington with its 1646 Exhibition, also offers the world renowned Dartington Crystal and the RHS gardens of Rosemoor. The celebrated Eden Project is within easy reach and enchanting Lundy island with its own marine reserve and bird sanctuary is only 11 miles from the coast with regular boat trips available. The younger generation will enjoy the Milky Way, the Big Sheep and the Gnome Reserve.
